Valentine’s Day is tough for those of us with a sweet tooth – how can one be expected to resist all that sugary goodness? This year, try out some of these healthier V-day snacks that are great for the family, the classroom, or just for fun!
Fruit and yogurt dip. Mix in some strawberries with vanilla yogurt for a Valentine-y dip that perfectly complements natural sweets like canned peaches, watermelon (if it’s in season), or apple slices soaked in pineapple juice.
Valentine’s kabobs. Take some V-day fruits (blood oranges, red grapes, red and pink grapefruit, apple slices, and other red berries), some V-day veggies (red peppers, radishes, beets, and tomatoes) and skewer them on kabobs with alternating cubes of white cheese, and you’ve got an easy snack that’ll satisfy your munchies without rotting your teeth.
Love punch. Trying combining cranberry juice and seltzer water for a healthier alternative to the typical sugar water concoctions you buy off the shelf.
Jello cutouts. Remember that heart-shaped cookie cutter? Try making some sugar-free jello, then cutting hearts out as bite-sized treats.
Heart-shaped sandwiches. Got a heart-shaped cookie cutter? Try cutting out your traditional sandwich fare – deli meats, cheese, lettuce – into heart-shaped goodies for an easy way to make your daily routine a little more festive.
